Registration is now open for the Iowa Bicycle Coalition’s ride series occurring in May and June to help local cyclists prepare for the RAGBRAI. The Pigtails Ride, Bacoon Ride, and Big Rove Ride are hosted by the Coalition and occur on some of Iowa’s favorite trails. These family-friendly events include food, drinks, and fun for the entire biking community. Ticket prices increase on April 1st, so riders are encouraged to sign up for the rides now to access early bird pricing.
“RAGBRAI will be here before you know it. Weather this spring has given us plenty of opportunities to get out and ride,” said Matt Phippen, RAGBRAI Ride Director. He continued, “Support the Iowa Bicycle Coalition and use these events to train. We want the best version of you riding your bike, with us, in July.”
Iowa Bicycle Coalition Executive Director Luke Hoffman said of the series, “We are incredibly proud to host these rides and give cyclists the opportunity to spend their summer training with the bicycling community. These rides support the advocacy efforts of the Iowa Bicycle Coalition to enact policy change that benefits the entire cycling community. We are honored to work with partners like RAGBRAI to provide quality rides that are fun for the whole family while driving forward positive change.”
About the Pigtails Ride
Saturday, May 18 - High Trestle Trail
Pigtails is a women-specific bike ride on one of the most scenic trails in the Midwest. Join us for this one-day, 48-mile springtime ride. The ride begins and ends in Ankeny’s Prairie Trail and travels the High Trestle Trail.
