The League of American Bicyclists hosts a program called The Bicycle Friendly University Program.The Bicycle Friendly University (BFU) program recognizes institutions of higher education for promoting and providing a more bikeable campus for students, staff and visitors. The BFU program provides the roadmap and technical assistance to create great campuses for cycling.
Nearly 204 colleges and universities hold Bicycle Friendly University recognition. Campuses can apply or renew their status and the next deadline is August 5, 2026. In recent award rounds, institutions have been recognized for integrating bike culture into campus planning and student life.
