Join Scott from BIKEIOWA.com to hear about what's on his radar in the Iowa cycling scene this weekend. #FridayFives is a new series for Summer 2020 and we plan to share fun destinations, events and happenings each week.

#1) Cue Card Simplicity
Scott discusses the the simplicity of a cue-card only ride/race versus using a GPS route and how it challenges the brain more.

#2) Turds of Misery - 200k
On location 50 miles in, Scott talks about the Turds of Misery 200k - Where is it? What kind of terrain? And how the heck did the event organizers comes up with a name like this ?!?

#3) Food Intake
Scott shares what kind of nutrients and calories he consumes while on long gravel rides and races.

#4) High Trestle Trail Memorial Picnic Table Shelters in Madrid
The Friends of the High Trestle Trail is a volunteer group that advocates improvements to the High Trestle Trail.

They are encouraging memorial contributions to build picnic table shelters at Madrid’s Dalander Park main trailhead. This is the linear park with the large parking area across from Flat Tire Lounge

#5) Valley Junction Alley Cat Ride
Our friend Jerry at Big Cock Bike Shop in the Valley Junction area of West Des Moines just posted his Alley Cat Ride for this year. We missed this intriguing ride last year.

It’s set for Nov 1st and it is a fun 20 mile-ish ride on gravel and paved alleys with some city parks and local establishments thrown in.
