As bicyclists pedaled through Iowa over the past week, they grabbed snacks from local fundraisers, ate dinner at local restaurants and helped RAGBRAI raise more than $400,000 for local communities all across Iowa.

RAGBRAI Gives Back, the annual bicycle ride's charity arm, will donate $415,143 to the towns that were a part of this route as well as the Dream Team, a program that trains underprivileged youth to ride on the cross-state trek.

"To be able to give back to the communities that gave our riders so much is special and important," said Anne Lawrie, cycling director of Ventures Endurance,RAGBRAI's parent company. "Those communities donated hundreds of hours of time and brought out hundreds of volunteers to produce a life-changing week for riders who came to rural Iowa from all over the country and all across the world."

Specifically, RAGBRAI will give $5,000 to each of this year's 32 pass-through towns; $10,000 to the seven meeting towns; and $15,000 to eight overnight towns.
