4TH ANNUAL TUNE UP TOUR & BIKEFEST

The Little Big Ride will take you on a scenic tour of the rolling hills of eastern Polk county with fun stops in 5 cycling-friendly cities. Your journey begins and ends at the beautiful Heritage Civic Plaza in active, attractive Altoona (next to Hy-Vee), with festivities all day including live band Fret Noise!

The tour offers 3 routes of varying lengths to accommodate riders of all skill levels:
The first leg of the tour is an easy ride on the trail system to Sleepy Hollow in Pleasant Hill. Riders who prefer a shorter ride can turn back to Altoona here. (12 M)

Riders after a more challenging training ride will continue on the roads to Runnells and then Mitchellville where you can turn towards Altoona (42 M) or continue on to Founders Pub in Bondurant and back to Altoona to enjoy the festivities (53 M).

2014 Bikefest

The Bikefest for kids starts at the Sam Wise Youth Complex at 10:00 am with a bike rodeo and a ride to the Campus where they will enjoy ice cream and other events. Afterward we encourage the young riders to join the after party at the plaza and enjoy the splash park if it is hot. Also at Sam Wise will be a mini cyclocross course designed by Cyclocross State Championship hosts Zealous Racing.

Route

Riders will head down the Prairie Heritage Trail to the Gay Lea Wilson trail on their way to Sleepy Hollow Sports Park in Pleasant Hill for the first fun stop.

From there, riders can choose to head back to Altoona (12 Miles round trip) or head out onto the roads to Runnells for fun stop #2. From there riders head on to Team 36 in Mitchellville for fun stop #3. Rider can choose to take a shorter route back to Altoona from here (41 Mile total trip) or head on to Founder's Pub in Bondurant for fun stop #4 and a return to Altoona (53 miles total trip) for the final fun stop and festivities.
