Description

Gravel

Distance - Gravel - 147 miles

Our inaugural 2017 gravel ride was such a hit that we decided to bring it back for 2018. As of April 3, 2018, there are around 30 cyclists signed up for the gravel so you can count on plenty of elbow room.
KANDANGO features two rides, a road and a gravel. The original road ride features some of the best secondary blacktop in the state. The gravel ride takes riders on some of the most beautiful back road in the Flint Hills. Both rides come together at stops along the way each day. The road riders & gravel grinders converge at St. Josephs Historic church on Friday, Olsburg on Saturday & Volland on Sunday. And the K2r BBQ Extravaganza returns on Saturday night! SAG Support is offered each day on both the road and gravel routes.

If you missed the DK200 or any form there of, this is the ride for you. A casual 3 day bike ride on the beautiful gravel roads surrounding Manhattan,KS. Please visit www.ridekandango.com for complete details.

Gravel Grinder Testimonial:

"Over the past decade, I've enjoyed numerous organized road rides like Kandango throughout the midwest. This past year my brother and i decided to take on Marshal Taco's challenge of riding KANDANGO's first gravel grinder. It was amazing! The roads that we rode were surprisingly smooth which allowed us to make good time each day despite the usual "in your face" Kansas winds. There was a surreal sense of being much closer to the outdoors throughout the ride which made the ride much more relaxing and enjoyable. Our encounters with vehicles were very few and when cars did approach us, it was with caution and a friendly wave. Getting "dusted" was a non-issue. We covered about 110 miles over two days and took advantage of a local farmer's advice to get further off the beaten path riding down the service path alongside the railroad tracks into White City. Definitely an added plus to the ride as we got further connected to the outdoors. We're definitely looking forward to another great ride next year and look to be in the company of many others as they join us on Marshal Taco's grinder!"
