More than two years after their daughter, Ellen Bengtson, was hit and killed by a distracted driver while riding her bike near Charles City, the Bengtson family say they may finally achieve a sense of justice.

Iowa lawmakers are currently debating a bill that would ban drivers from using handheld devices while operating their vehicles ? a law the Bengtsons and other advocates say could help save countless lives and bring justice to those impacted by distracted driving.

The driver of the truck who hit and killed Ellen Bengtson admitted to being distracted by his phone behind the wheel, but the judge threw out the case, saying there was insufficient evidence to support a conviction.
