Indianola artist Megan Shipley's new mural in Indianola'sdowntown Square isadding a colorful and interactive new element to a city center overtaken by the mess of two big construction projects.

Shipley was hired by Lula Belle Designs owner Kamie Haynes to paint a new mural on the side of 114 W. Ashland Ave., where Haynes recently relocated her business. Prior to Shipley's new project, a different mural commemorating a RAGBRAI route that went through Indianola in 2009 held the spot in Ashland Alley.

"We want to bring people to Indianola and encourage people to want to hang out," Shipleysaid. "This is the kind of just the type of artwork that I do and it just happens to be in line with what Kamie wanted and her style and her shop's."
