Question:I maybe just missed it, but was curious. Why is the north lane of the new bridge over the cut painted grass green?

The Answer Person says:We turned to Decorah City Engineer Jeremy Bril for the answer to your question. Here's what he said:

"The green pavement marking on the bridge is to designate the north lane as a bike lane. The use of colored pavement within bicycle lanes is becoming increasingly popular as it improves visibility of the lane and the Federal Highway Administration considers green pavement markings to be effective in increasing awareness of bike lane conflict areas.

We decided to use green paint for the Oneota Drive Bridge to make it clear that only one lane is for vehicle traffic and the other is for bikes and pedestrians."
