Cyclists willhave a safer way to cross Fleur Drive between Gray's Lake and Water Works parks with the construction of an underpass just north of George Flagg Parkway.
The Des Moines City Council approved Mondaya concept plan for the underpass and a $286,363 design agreement with Calhoun-Bums and Associates Inc.
At 19.5 feet wide and 10 feet high, the underpass will bealmost big enough to be designated as a bridge, City Engineer Steven Naber said.
