It may be 70 degrees outside, but some members of a regional snowmobile club arethinking ahead to next winter.
TheRaccoon Valley Snow Chasersrecently asked Waukee for permission to use portions of the Raccoon River Valley Trailwithinthe city limits.
The extension would have let the snowmobilers reachSaints Pub + Patio and other businesses about a mile and a half from the edge of town. But the request was denied by city leaders.
"I don’t think these motorized vehicles have a proper place inside the city limits," Police Chief John Quinn said. "There aretrails that already exist and I think that’s where they belong."
