A metro man was arrested after he was found driving drunk on the Raccoon River bike trail last week.
On August 29, the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office arrested Seth Applegate, 25, of Clive.
Officials say it was around 5 a.m. when the man drove onto the
8-foot-wide trail and crashed his vehicle through a bridge and fell into
a creek just outside of Adel city limits.
Bicyclist Sarah Cooper, was biking along the trail shortly after it happened.
“To see a drunk driver on the bike path, that is supposedly our safe
haven where they want people to ride their bikes, it made me angry,” she
said. “Very, very angry.”
While no one was injured, Cooper said the incident hits close to
home. Last month, her friend Wade Franck was killed by a drunk driver
when he was riding his bike.
