DES MOINES--Grinding to a halt. There will be no more coffee beans or late night latte's for what many have called a Des Moines institution.
Mars Café announced today it will be closing its doors next month.
The popular coffee shop opened about six years ago to wide acclaim. Since then mars has become a trendy space for Drake students and customers across the metro.
Fans of the coffee shop reacted strongly tonight on Facebook and twitter.
One fan wrote, "I'm crying tears of pure espresso right now."
Another said, "My heart is breaking. The anchor of Dogtown is closing up shop."
The restaurant will pour its last cup of joe August 18th. Owners say they decided to close the shop to focus on their law office.
