A Cyclist Procession to the Funeral In memory of Mark, a cycling procession will take place on Friday Sept 4th. We will ride from the Northwest Community Center in Beaverdale to the Westover Funeral Home. After the funeral the procession will continue to the Glendale Cemetery for burial. All cyclists are welcome. Cycling attire is appropriate. Depart 10:15 am. Ride to Funeral Home Northwest Community Center 5110 Franklin Ave, Des Moines, IA 50310 (Spillover parking - library and New Image fitness center parking lots) Following funeral, burial is at Glendale Cemetery 4909 University Ave Des Moines, IA 50311-3305 Cyclists will also be part of the procession to the cemetery. Family's requests - Keep this about Mark, and not the political side, nor the petition to ban bikes. BIKEIOWA request - This day is about Mark - the cyclist who died doing something legal. The family realizes that cycling was a big part of Mark's life, but they don't want the cyclists to be the main attraction. Please treat this as a "Ride of Silence" type of event in remembrance of Mark life. Respect. Be adamant that you will speak with the media only if they don't include anything about bike ban petition.
