The Des Moines River Trail joins a growing list of
recreation options in the area. Among them:
- THE WAVELAND TRAIL, off the Greenbelt Trail toward I235,
is being paved and will soon connect the Walnut Creek Trail
to Waveland Golf Course to the north. The trail may
eventually continue through the golf course north past
University Avenue to the Beaverdale neighborhood.
- THE WALNUT CREEK TRAIL was completed last fall,
connecting to the Bill Riley Trail to the east and the
Clive Greenbelt and Levy Trails to the west. The West Des
Moines Connection from Raccoon River Valley Park (just
south of Railroad Avenue) is complete, leaving only a small
segment on Southwest 63rd Street to connect to the Levy
Trail.
