Polk County Make sure your commuting route will not be blocked with the Weekly Contruction Alert Report from Drive Time Des Moines. City of Des Moines 42nd Street and Kingman Boulevard The intersection of 42nd Street and Kingman Boulevard will be under construction for approximately the next three (3) months due to intersection improvements. Two-way traffic will be maintained; however, motorist should expect narrowed lanes during the construction period. University Avenue between 22nd Street and 23rd Street University Avenue between 22nd Street and 23rd Street will be restricted to one-lane traffic in each direction beginning Wednesday, April 29th. Construction has been extended until the end of July. Euclid Avenue at the Des Moines River bridge Euclid Avenue will be reduced to one lane in each direction at the Des Moines River bridge beginning Monday, May 4th. Construction is expected to last until approximately July 20th. 2nd Avenue between Grand Avenue and I-235 Construction along 2nd Avenue between Grand Avenue and I-235 is scheduled to begin on Friday, May 1st. Expect various lane closures along 2nd Avenue and Grand Avenue. Construction is expected to be completed by early August. Urbandale Avenue between Merle Hay Road and 64th Street Urbandale Avenue between Merle Hay Road and 64th Street will be closed to through traffic beginning Monday, June 8th. A DETOUR will be signed directing motorist to use Merle Hay Road, Hickman Road and 70th Street. Construction is expected to last approximately three (3) weeks. Indianola Avenue between East Fulton Drive and Pioneer Road Indianola Avenue between East Fulton Drive and Pioneer Road will be reduced to one lane in each direction beginning Tuesday, June 9th at 9:00 a.m. Construction is expected to last approximately eight (8) weeks. Mulberry Street between 6th Avenue and 7th Street Mulberry Street between 6th Avenue and 7th Street will be reduced to one lane in each direction beginning Monday, June 22nd. Construction is expected to last approximately two (2) weeks. Des Moines Arts Festival Street Closings Closed beginning on Wednesday, June 24th at 9:00 a.m.: Locust Street from 10th Street to 16th Street Two lanes on the south side of Grand Avenue will be closed from 11th Street to 16th Street (Two lanes will be kept open for traffic on the north side of Grand Avenue until 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.) Closed beginning on Wednesday, June 24th at 6:00 p.m.: All lanes of Grand Avenue from 11th Street to 16th Street 15th Street from Ingersoll Avenue to Walnut Street 13th Street from Grand Avenue to Walnut Street 12th Street from Grand Avenue to Walnut Street *** All streets will reopen at 5:30 a.m. on Monday, June 29th. *** SE 6th Street between Court Avenue and Scott Avenue SE 6th Street between Court Avenue and Scott Avenue will be closed beginning at 8:30 a.m. Thursday, June 25th until 6:00 a.m. Monday, June 29th. The street will close again at 6:00 p.m. Monday, June 29th and reopen by 6:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 30th. A DETOUR will run on SE 4th Street from Scott Avenue to Court Avenue. High Street between 11th Street and 14th Street High Street between 11th Street and 14th Street will be closed beginning at 9:00 a.m. Monday, June 29th. Construction is expected to last approximately four (4) months. E 4th Street between E Grand Avenue and Des Moines Street E 4th Street between E Grand Avenue and Des Moines Street will be closed beginning Friday, June 26th. Construction is expected to last approximately three (3) weeks. City of Pleasant Hill E University Avenue between Williams Street and Hickory Boulevard E University Avenue between Williams Street and Hickory Boulevard will experience lane closures beginning Thursday, April 23rd. Construction is expected to last until approximately mid August. City of Waukee 6th Street between 300th Street and Cherry Street 6th Street between 300th Street and Cherry Street will be closed beginning Friday, June 5th. Construction is expected to last approximately ten (10) weeks. A DETOUR is planned from Ashworth Road to L.A. Grant Parkway to Ashworth Drive to Warrior Lane. City of West Des Moines Grand Avenue and Fuller Road The intersection at Grand Avenue and Fuller Road will be closed beginning, Monday, March 23rd for reconstruction of the intersection. Construction is expected to last until approximately Friday, July 10th. A DETOUR will route traffic along Grand Avenue to South 50th Street to Mills Civic Parkway to E.P. True Parkway. Jordan Creek Parkway at Mills Civic Parkway Jordan Creek Parkway at Mills Civic Parkway will experience lane closures beginning Monday, April 13th. Construction has been extended until approximately Friday, June 26th. Grand Avenue between E P True Parkway and Fuller Road Grand Avenue between E P True Parkway and Fuller Road will be closed beginning Thursday, May 28th. Construction is expected to last through October 2009. Mills Civic Parkway between S. Jordan Creek Parkway and West Glen entrance Mills Civic Parkway between S. Jordan Creek Parkway and West Glen entrance will experience lane closures beginning Wednesday, May 13th. Construction has been extended until Tuesday, June 30th. Jordan Creek Parkway at E P True Parkway Jordan Creek Parkway at E P True Parkway will experience lane closures beginning Monday, June 1st. Construction has been extended until approximately June 26th. 68th Street and Mills Civic Parkway 68th Street just north of Mills Civic Parkway will experience lane closures beginning Tuesday, June 23rd. Construction is expected to last approximately one (1) week. Polk County Iowa 141 and I-35/80 The southbound entrance ramp at Iowa 141 and I-35/80 will be restricted to one 11-foot lane for bridge deck reconstruction. Construction is expected to last approximately five (5) months.
