Trail Boosters Near Fundraising Goal

Ankeny Organizers are down to their final week to raise money for a new recreational trail. The Ankeny to Woodward trail qualified for a Vision Iowa grant but organizers need to raise $550,000 in matching funds by next week. They said they've raised $110,000 in the past week but are still $14,000 shy of their goal. "We've had tremendous grassroots support," said Lisa Hein, of the Iowa Natural Heritage Foundation. "We've had more than 600 donors to this project, 100 of them at the $1,000 level and above."
