Man Remains In Critical Condition POSTED: 5:39 am CDT September 12, 2005 UPDATED: 8:44 am CDT September 12, 2005 DES MOINES, Iowa -- The Polk County Sheriff's Office is searching for the driver involved in a hit-and-run over the weekend involving a bicyclist. Donald Brian Shaver, of Ankeny, was hit while riding his bike at about 4:30 a.m. Sunday east of Ankeny. The Polk County Sheriff's Office said it believes Shaver's blue Fuji bike was dragged by the car after he was hit because it has yet to be found. "I asked what was going on. I saw a helmet lying in the middle of the road, then a hat and a tennis shoe. Then I knew what was going on," said John Jensen, who lives near the accident scene. Shaver remains in critical condition. Authorities ask those with information about the crash to call (515) 286-3816.
