Description

Mountain Biking

Distance - 80+ MILES

A 2 days 80+ miles ride covering several gravel routes as well as paved and unpaved trails across the Des Moines metro area. Riders will camp in Walnut Woods State park south of West Des Moines. On the second day the ride will continue north, ride the 'Center' and Sycamore dirt trails and finish in Big Creek State park north of Polk City. Self-contained, un-suported, non-sponsored, in-sane. Send email to receive 1st day ride map.

Route

Ride will start at the Rolling Thunder Prairie State Preserve. Take road G76 east from New Virginia. The route will follow road R57 north and will end at the Walnut Woods campground in West Des Moines. On the second day will ride north. Center trails, Waterworks Park, downtown, north on Neal Smith trail, Sycamore trail and back on Neal Smith trail to Polk City.
