The 14th annual Courage Ride honors the life of Seth Bailey, a courageous young man who died at age 25 from sarcoma cancer in 2003. His parents, Jackie and Tom Bailey partnered with Bicyclists of Iowa City (BIC) to create a ride that all levels of cyclists can enjoy! All proceeds from the Courage Ride go to the University of Iowa Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center Sarcoma Research Program. Since the first ride in 2005,Courage Ride has raised over $649,200 for sarcoma cancer research. 85% of the Sarcoma Research Program's seed grant funding come from Courage Ride.

 ABOUT THE RIDE

• Over 500 riders are expected to register
• Pedal over rolling hills leading past Amish homesteads and over old stagecoach routes near Kalona, Iowa
• Seven paved routes: 12 (new-flatter route), 16, 24, 39, 59, 81 and 100 miles
• Gravel routes: None offered in 2018
• Courage Ride has a rolling start, but generally, cyclists riding 40+ miles will leave between 7 a.m. and 8 a.m.; cyclists doing shorter rides will leave after 8 a.m.
• Includes a delicious catered breakfast and lunch
• Rest stops with food and live music
• Cyclists receive detailed maps, SAG support, bike mechanics and free tent camping with access to showers
• Courage Ride bike jerseys are available to order when you register
• A silent auction featuring items from area businesses, organizations and craftsmen
• Free skin cancer screenings performed by University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics dermatologists
• Advance registration for adults is $75 and youth (13-17) is $15 through August 10. Starting August 11, adult registration is $85.

Advance registration for adults is $75 and youth (13-17) is $15 through August 10. Starting August 11, adult registration is $85.
