The City of Cedar Rapids wants to remind everyone about the use of scooters, bikes, and skateboards downtown. Scooters, bicycles, and skateboards are not allowed on sidewalks downtown core and surrounding districts (NewBo, Czech Village, Kingston Village, MedQuarter). The city has "Walk Your Wheels" sidewalk decals as part of the bike share program. There are more than 50 signs to help remind the public on where to safely ride.
Riding an e-scooter or bicycle on the sidewalk in the downtown core is a violation with a fine up to $625.
Bikes, scooters, and skateboards can be ridden in bike lanes and trail systems. The downtown and surrounding areas have a high volume of pedestrian traffic.
