Steve "Sprint" Selzer, 72, of Iowa City passed away while riding his bicycle on Friday (May 10th 2019).

Steve was the founder of one of the very first RAGBRAI bike "clubs" with the Sprint Selzer Bike Club. Here is a story that the Iowa City Press-Citizen published about Steve during RAGBRAI's visit last summer to his home town (per RAGBRAI FB post).

Per his team page - Yesterday, the namesake and one of the co-founders of the Sprint Selzer Bicycle Club (Team Sprint for short) passed away. Steve "Sprint" Selzer was out riding his trike and left us. One of the nicest souls you could every meet will be remembered forever. More news will be coming out shortly. Please keep his family in your thoughts.

Sprint rode RAGBRAI from 1975-present, and co-founded the storied Sprint Selzer Bicycle Club, becoming a beloved figure throughout the state.

This was an incredibly sad event. The family of Steve should file a wrongful death lawsuit against the City of Coralville. I have all the photographic evidence needed that show the city admitted liability within 3 days of the event.
