The City of Missouri Valley is applying to be a host community for the opening weekend of RAGBRAI 2017.
According to a press release from the Missouri Valley Chamber of Commerce, the Chamber of Commerce and the City of Missouri Valley were approached by RAGBRAI to apply for the 2017 event.
After meeting with the Missouri Valley City Council and the Harrison County Fair Board, the Chamber of Commerce decided to submit an application. As a result, the Chamber of Commerce is seeking letters of support for hosting the event and asks that letters be forwarded to the Chamber of Commerce office by email atdirector@missourivalleychamber.com, by fax at 712-642-3771; or by mail to 100 S. Fourth St., Missouri Valley, IA 51555.
“I would also be happy to come pick them up, just give me a call at the office (at 712-642-2553),” said Annette Deakins, Missouri Valley Chamber of Commerce Executive Director.
Deakins stated that RAGBRAI in Missouri Valley would take place July 21-22, 2017, and would bring approximately 30,000 people to the community.

Missouri Valley last hosted the event in 2008. The community was also a host in 1997.
