Despite two tragic incidents, RAGBRAI Director T.J. Jusciewicz says Shenandoah and southwest Iowa made a great impression on participants.

Jusciewicz is praising communities on the route of the Register's Annual Great Bicycle Ride Across Iowa earlier this week. He added Shenandoah was successful in handling the thousands of bicyclists and support personnel which stayed in the community overnight Sunday.

"The people absolutely loved Shenandoah," said Jusciewicz. "It was beautiful walking around right there on Main Street (Sheridan Avenue), and looking at lots of people going into the Everly Brothers' House. The town in the people came out, and were absolutely friendly. So, it was just a great impression for RAGBRAI--they hadn't been in Shenandoah in quite a while. It was great to come back, and enjoy a night in Shenandoah."

He also lauded Glenwood as the starting point for RAGBRAI 44, and the towns located along the legs from Glenwood to Shenandoah Sunday, and from Shenandoah to Creston Monday.
