POMEROY, Ia. – The trip to Byron's is a long one for many Iowans but not exactly strange — unless somehow you're still surprised to see wind turbines sprinkled across the sparse rural landscape as you stray into northwest Iowa.

But what you might not know is that the true Deadhead capital of Iowa is this remote, unassuming bar at 112 Main Street. Byron's stands next door to the post office and not much else.

The bar also is situated on the new gravel-road loop July 20 as part of the 2015 RAGBRAI Route.
