Bike ban in Colorado casino town

Black Hawk, CO The small — population 100 — town of Black Hawk, Colorado (approx. 35 miles SW of Boulder) has decided that casino buses and patrons are more important than bicyclists.... so they have declared town roads off-limits to bicycles. Cyclists can walk their bikes through the downtown, butyou can no longer ride your bicycle on the streets of this one-horse town. These hick-town lawmakers claim they are taking this as a 'pro-active' measure, even though there have been no accidents since the casinos expanded. Needless to say, cyclists across the area are up in arms, and as word spreads so does the opposition. Among other things, this interrupts one of the Adventure Cycling (formerly Bikecentennial) routes through the area. Click here — http://bicyclecolo.org/articles/black-hawk-bike-ban-pg1118.htm — to go to the Bicycle Colorado site for details and information, as well as find out what you can do to make your voice heard.
