Des Moines Register People/Places Iowa top 10 Cool things to do this week By REGISTER STAFF AND NEWS SERVICES July 3, 2005 1 MUSIC: Bicycle, Blues & BBQ Festival, Saturday and next Sunday, Clear Lake --- A weekend of exercise, entertainment and eating is on tap for the Clear Lake area, with the Bicycle, Blues &BBQ Festival. Events start Saturday at 7:30 a.m. in downtown Clear Lake's City Park, where Chris Cakes will serve pancakes before the bicycle riders take off on their choice of three routes: the 14-mile Baby Back; the 42-mile Country Style; the 72-mile Cajun ride. Back at City Park there is a barbecue lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. with music from Reverend Raven & the Chain Smokin' Altar Boys and Jack Semple, as well as a BMX stunt-rider show. Saturday evening, Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes play the Surf Ballroom. Sunday morning is a USCF-sanctioned bike race for all riders.
