A new name and look is coming for an annual bike ride hosted during Sioux Center Summer Celebration.
“Gear up for Summer 2021” bike ride is coming Saturday, June 5. This ride was formerly known as the “WOW” ride, previously organized by Promise Community Health Center in Sioux Center.
The Sioux Center Trails Council is excited to take over as host of this event, partnering with sponsor Entegro Health of Sioux Center.
“This is a great way for us to promote the trail system as well as promote biking for health and recreation,” said ride director Char Kooima, who is also a member of the trails council. “The trails council has a master plan to have the trails connect each of the areas around Sioux Center as a way to connect the community also.”
All of the proceeds of the ride will go toward trail development, repairs and enhancements of the city’s existing trail system.
The revamped version of the bike ride has four options from which to choose — about a 5-mile family fun ride, a 30-mile “Warrior” road ride, a 60-mile “Steamroller” road ride and a 30-mile “gravel grinder.”
