The seventh annual banquet of the Raccoon River Valley Trail Association will be held Saturday, Feb. 15, at the West Des Moines Marriott Hotel, with fundraising auctions to support the promotion of the 89-mile paved trail in west central Iowa, entertainment by magician & comedian Ben Ulin, and a full banquet meal.

The theme of the event is the “Raccoon River Valley Trail: It’s a Magical Experience,” which seems appropriate with most people still getting acquainted with the fantastic trail expansion completed in 2013.

The schedule for the evening:

  • 4:45 p.m. Social gathering opening with a cash bar and a silent auction of donated items
  • 5:30 p.m. Sit-down dinner with a choice of two entrees — one a pasta “whole wheat penne with smoked chicken prosciutto cracklings” and the other a “Graziano Brothers sweet Italian sausage potato gnocchi.”
  • 7:00 p.m. Magician-comedian Ulin takes the floor with a show that has been a favorite at corporate parties, in comedy clubs and on cruise ships for 30 years.
  • 8:15 p.m. The silent auction will end and a live auction of exceptional artwork, merchandise and opportunities will be held.
The auctions and banquet are the RRVT Association’s only public fundraising event held each year, with all proceeds going toward the marketing, promotion and enhancement of the trail and its communities.
