The Pig n Pedal (but most of our friends just call us “The Pig”)

The Heart of Ankeny

We built this bar and restaurant with Iowa (Pig) and Cycling (Pedal) in mind. Cycling décor and
reclaimed Iowa barnwood are the theme. Scratch menu items, small vineyard wines, craft cocktails,
Moscow mules, and a wide selection of Iowa-made draft beer make us the only full service bar and
restaurant connected to Ankeny Market Pavilion (AMP, home of the Farmer’s Market) and the
cycling trailhead.

Whether you’re looking for a cold domestic tallboy, pint of Iowa craft beer, seasonal
craft cocktail or a Kentucky Mule, we’ve got it all!

Our Patio - Cycling Season Vibe

Our +/-80 seat patio is located right in the heart of Ankeny on the High Trestle Trailhead. Backing to
Ankeny Market Pavilion, our patio overlooks the bustling Ankeny Farmer’s Market every Saturday
morning during the summer. With a gated sidewalk, walk your bikes into our yard and enjoy food and
drink on the patio while listening to music and watching the market and trail-riders rolling by.

Uptown – The “Old Downtown” Revitalization

While Ankeny continued to grow by leaps and bounds, Uptown had quietly been left to age like so
many other “old downtowns.” A number of businesses had successfully existed for years, but an
equal number of buildings were run down and in need of revitalization. Limited parking and outdated
infrastructure plagued the district.

About 5-10 years ago however, that all changed. The City of Ankeny, along with local developers,
saw the potential and began a revitalization initiative. This combined effort has led to the bicycle trail
infrastructure, the market pavilion, improved roads, much-needed additional parking, and updated
buildings for businesses and residents alike.

The Uptown Association (an Uptown Ankeny business member group) has been integral in these
efforts as well, and we are proud to be an active member. We are currently involved in a trailhead
project which will bring art installations to the Ankeny corridor of trails, as well as 2 trail construction
projects. Heading south out of uptown, the first project tunnels under Highway 69 and the second
project takes the trail over Oralabor Rd via a bridge. These projects mean no more crossing two of
Ankeny’s busiest roadways and are expected to be completed this year. Very exciting!

Let’s Do Brunch!

We offer the best brunch around on Sundays from 9am-2pm year-round, and Saturdays from 9am-
2pm seasonally from spring to fall. With bottomless mimosas, house made “Miss Piggy” bloody
marys and a full brunch menu, get your day started off right! Nothing beats a Summer Saturday ride
to the Farmer’s Market, a drink or two at “The Pig”, followed by a nice trail ride. And we’ll be here
when you get back!
