The City of Perry recently accepted a large grant to improve multiple downtown projects.

The US Department of Housing and Urban Development and the Office of Community Planning and Development awarded $1,919,082 to go towards the city’s 2024 Perry Downtown Improvements Phase 1 project. City Administrator Sven Peterson says that they have full downtown revitalization plans but since the project is so large they plan on taking it in phases. He says the first phase will consist of a four block reconstruction which includes the intersection of 2nd Street along with Willis Avenue to Warford.

The timing of this project will fall in line with the completion of the High Trestle Trail Connector between Woodward and Perry.
