With relatively little fanfare, the The Eldridge City Council agreed to adopt the city's $11.8 million budget for fiscal year 2006. The budget is up by $1.2 million, primarily because of capital improvements and increased wages and benefits for city employees. Major expenditures include the First Street bicycle path, repairs to South 11th Avenue in the Blackhawk Industrial Park, and the Eldridge Electric and Water Utility's share of construction of a new power plant in Council Bluffs. CODY TRAIL INFO The 25-1/2 mile Cody Trail extends from Eldridge to LeClaire, IA and is named after Buffalo Bill Cody, an Indian Scout, buffalo hunter, and Wild West showman. Cody was born in the Mississippi River town of LeClaire, and moved into rural Scott County. The portion of the trail in Eldridge extends from North 1st street to North 16th street. A 16-block section of trail that runs parellel with LeClaire road separated by a 10 foot corridor and then south with a connection to Duck Creek Trail.
