A rose to Meredith Corp. for being named one of the nation’s "best companies for cyclists," according to Bicycling magazine. Meredith was ranked No. 10 for several reasons: daily on-site indoor cycling classes; close access to trails and a BCycle bike sharing station; and wellness rewards. Employees can also get $240 a year to cover bike commuting costs, among other perks.
It’s not Meredith’s first such award: In 2009, it was recognized as a “gold” winner for bike-friendly businesses by the League of American Bicyclists. Other gold winners are Bike Tech in Cedar Falls; Hall Bicycle Co. in Cedar Rapids; RDG Planning & Design in Des Moines; Johnson County; and World of Bikes in Iowa City.
No Iowa employer has ever reached the “platinum” level, so we have some work to do.
