WASHINGTON, Iowa (KCRG-TV9)-CARE Ambulance owner Bob Libby says crews have been busy so far this year on the Register's Annual Great Bicycle Ride Across Iowa.

Libby estimated that crews have tended to about 300 people and transported about 50 people to local hospitals. CARE Ambulance is contracted by RAGBRAI and works the entire route with four ambulances and two motorcycles.

Libby said heat earlier in the week led to some dehydration issues with riders. The potential for rain in the forecast Friday also has crews concerned about the potential for slip hazards, Libby said.

Two people have died along the route. On Sunday a rider was hit by a pick-up truck and a second rider died earlier this week after suffering a medical issue while riding.

Tonight on the KCRG-TV9 evening news, KCRG crews ride along with CARE Ambulance on RAGBRAI.
