Another piece of the funding needed to extend the High Trestle Trail in Ankeny down to Des Moines was approved Tuesday.
The Iowa TransportationCommission approved$782,500 for the Ankeny Connector project.
The approval was part of $5,514,307 in funding for 12 State Recreational Trails Program projects.
Ankeny, Polk County and the Iowa Heritage Foundation have been working on the plan toadd six more miles of trailto the from Interstate 80 north to the High Trestle Trail in Ankeny.
