West Branch Fire Department first responders treated Richard Allen Wagner, 60, of West Branch for injuries about dusk Nov. 15 after the bicyclist was knocked down in the 100 block of East 290th Street, just east of where Main Street turns into 290th Street on the east side of the city.
An Iowa State Patrol report states that Wagner was heading east about 4:52 p.m. when a 1969 Ford Pickup driven by Thomas John Spielbauer, 34, of West Liberty, also heading east, struck Wagner.

Wagner was reportedly outside the white line and Spielbauer told police he did not see him. West Branch Police Chief Michael Horihan said it appears Wagner, who ISP reported was not wearing a helmet, was clipped by the truck's side mirror.

Wagner was conscious, wiggling his toes and talking to EMTs at the scene, and later taken by Johnson County Ambulance Service to University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.

An ISP report does not list any citations issued.
