On September 1st, professionals and amateurs alike will run, bike and swim to the finish line.

The annual Hy-Vee Triathlon is this Sunday in Des Moines. Crews are at work around Gray’s Lake to get thing ready for the competition.

Organizers have moved all of the swimmers to Gray’s Lake. The professional were supposed to dive into the Des Moines River. But authorities say the water levels are too low due to the drought. Race officials say the low levels just aren’t safe for the athletes.

Parts of the park are closing throughout the week to prepare for the event.
