Sunderbruch Mountain Bike Trail Grand Opening

Approx. 50+ mountain bikers showed up for the grand opening of sunderbruch park in davenport representing clubs such as quad cities friends of off road cycling (who built the trail), peoria area mountain bike association, Chicago area mountain bikers, central Illinois mud maids, comlara off road bike association.

The mayor was there to cut the ribbon and family members of dr. john sunderbruch--for whom the park was named--was also present. the land used to be a dairy farm and the remaining original family members who were born and grew up there were also in attendance. there was a nature hike for kids, geocaching, and a horse ride (although the equestrians were not allowed on the mtb trails.)

FORC lead group mtn bike rides and hosted a great cookout with plenty of food and beer and the city provided punch and cookies. two bike shops were there with demo bikes to ride and the trails were fast and flowing. it was a great time. this is what mountain biking is about--having fun. for more fun events, check out membertrails.org.
