All9Yards, central Iowa's flexible real estate company is excited to announce 'opening day' for bicycle racing in Central Iowa.
Lane Anderson, President, said, "We are excited to bring this popular event back to Altoona and Des Moines. We've seen the attendance grow from nearly 100 competitors to over 300 regional and international-class racers including former Olympian and current Discovery Cycling Team member Jason McCartney."
"This year will be another record-setting event with races for juniors under age 15 to a newly-established 50+ age category for racers," said Anderson.
Saturday's race course will be a hilly four-mile circuit north of the South East Polk High School with races from 10am - 2pm and distances ranging from 22 to 45 miles. Sunday's races will be held at the main loop at Des Moines Waterworks Park from 10:30am - 3pm.
"Sunday's races are an excellent viewing opportunity for families to enjoy the great weather and high speeds of top regional bicycle racers," said Anderson.

Course
The course is a 4.5 mile, 4 corner circuit with rolling hills with the start/finish at the top of a short steep climb. Course is open to traffic and center-line rule in effect the entire course.

Take I-80 East of Des Moines to Hwy 65(exit 140), take Hwy 65 south to Hwy 163, take Hwy 163 east approximately 4 miles to NE 88th St take NE 92nd St North to the registration at the Southeast Polk Bus Barn(up the hill, west of the Ivy Centennial Church)

Directions
Take I-235 to the Martin Luther King Pkwy exit. Go south on MLK to George Flagg Pkwy. Turn right on George Flagg, Park in the Isaac Walton Parking lot south of the race course.
