Marshalltown police are charging a man they say hit a 9-year-old with his vehicle and then drove away.
Carlos Cancino-Valdez, 57, of Marshalltown, is charged with leaving the scene of an accident resulting in serious injury. Marshalltown investigators say back on Aug. 10, he hit a child riding a bicycle with his truck.
The child was taken to UnityPoint Hospital for treatment.
Marshalltown police say Cancino-Valdez did eventually return to the scene.
