~ Tony Konecne, Owner - The Pelican Post

Where is The Pelican Post located?

The Pelican Post is located in West Des Moines just a few feet from the Jordan Creek Bike Trail. Take the 50th street tunnel and there is Bike World West!

The building began as Jesse's Embers West and spent most of its life as either that or with Riley Drive as Saints, Taco Hangover, and 50th Street Tap. It was also Irina's for a brief moment. After a very short run as Boomer's Bicycle Lounge, Tony purchased the assets in March of 2023 and opened as The Pelican Post Bar & Grille.

Who owns The Pelican Post?

Tony Konecne owns The Pelican Post. Tony is a 36 year veteran of the restaurant business. 26 of which have been spent in management.

Tony spent the last 8.5 wonderful years with Full Court Press where he began as a general manager for 2 concepts and ended as a district manager managing multiple units.

The Pelican Post will celebrate its one year anniversary on May 9th 2024.

Community Involvement

We are members of the Ankeny and West Des Moines Chambers. In addition to Bike Iowa, and Thirsty Pigs, we are supporters of the Iowa Barnstormers, Best Buddies of Iowa, and many other charitable organizations.

Being new, we have not had as much opportunity to exercise our passion for community involvement as much as we want to, and we are eager to help and donate where we can.

We are excited to engage with the community and we are very interested in sponsoring teams and rides and charity events.

Events

Their first big event (of many to come) that is scheduled is our Green Flannel Ride on March 16th.
