Distance - 109 miles, mostly flat

This is a friendly, casual ride with the purpose of getting ready for RAGBRAI. Stops are at c-stores in towns along the way. The Club has a supported stop approx. 15 miles from finish. Ride ia SAG supported.

Melon City Bike Club Century Ride 2006 Date: Sunday June 25 Time: Riders are leaving between 6:00 and 7:00 AM from Harper’s Cycling & Fitness Route: To Burlington and back. (South on the Illinois side of the river and back on the Iowa side) Details and mileage are below. This is quite possibly the FLATTEST century route in Iowa (2 bridges are the biggest “hills”). Support: SAG stop with food & drink provided by the Club. See the route details for location. The Harper’s van (maroon with Harper’s stickers on it!) will leave Muscatine at 12:00 Noon and sweep the route. Anyone needing assistance should look for it & flag it down. Road A) 4.6  Left at Highway 17 (stop sign) 20.5  Right turn @ Keithsburg Road 22.9  Left at stop sign in Keithsburg 28.8  Casey’s General Store 29.0  Left turn out of Casey’s parking lot (Main St.)  Right on 10th St. (follow River Road signs) 29.1  Big River State Forest 32.3  Delabar State Park 38.9  Right at stop sign (Highway 164/River Road) 40.7  Oquawka city limit 41.1  2 C-stores where Hwy 164 turns left 41.6 (Left to Gladstone)  Gladstone city limit 46.1  Turn right to Lock & Dam 18 (before RR tracks) 46.3  Turn left at “L & D 18 ” sign (street is 900 E) 49.4  Turn right at stop sign (Hwy 34) (Back on River Road route) 52.9  Take 1st exit off Burlington Bridge (“Hwy 99 – Main St.”) 57.2  Right on Highway 99 (stop sign) 57.3  Casey’s General Store on left side 58.7  Continue north on Hwy 99 (left out of parking lot)  Kingston city limit (Don’t expect much here!) 69.4  Precision Machine has pop machine on left side 69.7  Oakville city limit 77.9  C-store on right (brown building) 78.1  Follow Hwy 99/River Road north (Curves west out of town)  Toolesboro mounds 82.3  Co. Road X61 (gravel for the adventurous) 83.1 (Otherwise continue on Hwy 99)  Right on Co. Road G62/I Ave (1 mile east of Wapello) 88.5  Left at stop sign (Co. Road X61/River Road north) (Shafer Barn is at this intersection) 91.9 *** All flat or downhill from here!! ***  SAG Stop (food/drink provided Noon till 3:00) (At Port Louisa Lookout) 93.0  Continue on X61/Stweart Road back to Muscatine  Left at Baker St. 108.4  Harper’s Cycling & Fitness 108.9
