Traditions have to adapt to the pandemic. After 16 years of in-person conferences, we are moving the Iowa Bicycle Summit online, but we are combining all of our winter events into one big celebration of bicycling.
The Iowa Bicycle Summit is now a multi-day combination of the:
Iowa Safe Routes to School Conference (Jan 28);
Bike Facility and Planning Sessions presented by the Iowa DOT(Jan 29);
Advocates & Consumers Sessions (Jan 30);
Iowa Bike Expo presented by Continental (Jan 30); and
Route Announcement presented by RAGBRAI(Jan 30).
Make plans to attend any or all of these events and support the Iowa Bicycle Coalition.
How will this work? We’ve partnered with Whova, an online platform for conferences. You can download their app or sign in online and attend all or parts of the Iowa Bicycle Summit. Some sessions are free like the Iowa Safe Routes to School Conference or low-cost like the Iowa Bike Expo for $5 per person. Some cost more like the Bicycle Facility and Planning Continuing Education Track for $75 per person. And the Route Announcement Party is $25 ($5 discount for Iowa Bicycle Coalition members).
Once you are registered, you can start to view and interact with the Iowa Bike Expo exhibitors and participate in the discussion groups on the Whova platform. There is truly something for everyone with topics ranging from tandems to racing to bike clubs to bike advocacy and much more. On January 30th, there will be meetups scheduled at all times of the day where you can meet and network with people that have your same interests.
Attendees at the Expo will have opportunities to interact with many of the exhibitors. You can sign into their videoconferencing and talk with them live about their products, bikes, destinations, and more.
Most of all, the event supports bicycle advocacy and the Iowa Bicycle Coalition.
