Unfortunately, the trail is in need of some major improvements. I understand that the Corps of Engineers does not have the funds in their budget to cover the cost of an asphalt overlay and widening project. I want you to understand that it is imperative that dollars be made available to improve the current conditions of this wonderful and much-used trail system. It has been our pride and joy in the Des Moines area for over 20 years, and there are lots of plans for other trails to be connected to this main trail segment.
