In Mason City signs are being painted on the roadways making it easy to remember to share the road with bicyclists. Crews have been working on them as part of the city’s bicycle and pedestrian master plan. “Sharrows” are being spray-painted on the roads and signs will eventually be hung up. Mason City City Engineer Mark Rahm says he is happy that the plan is moving forward.

“I believe it’s becoming more and more popular. I’ve noticed myself a lot more bicyclists out on the street,” said Rahm.

Rahm says there will be three more phases rolled out in the next year. He says they hope to have all the signs painted down on the road by July 20th weather permitting.
