Description

The Cedar Valley Lakes Trail is a concrete/asphalt trail connecting Black Hawk Park north of Cedar Falls to Evansdale through George Wyth State Park and downtown Waterloo. This scenic trail includes views of the Cedar River along urban settings through parks with canopied trails, and neighborhoods. The trail also includes riding past the chain-of-lakes in George Wyth.

There are self-service bicycle repair stations along the route. There are also bicycle shops in both downtown Waterloo and Cedar Falls near the trail.

You can appreciate some of the Cedar Valley Lakes Trail's scenic diversity here in this high speed 12 mile POV bike ride from Evansdale to Cedar Falls.

It’s part of the Cedar Valley Trail Network a 130 miles trail system that includes numerous trails connecting with local recreation areas including Black Hawk Park, Cedar Bend Park, Prairie Lakes Park, Big Woods Lake, Hartman Reserve Nature Center and Katoski Greenbelt. This system is quite complex. Fortunately there are some great resources on the Cedar Falls Tourism & Visitors Bureau website. You can download a PDF map of the whole system, order a free paper version, or download an interactive trail map app for your smart phone. Another great source for updated trail status is the Cedar Trail Partnership Facebook page. You can also scout the trail system ahead of time on Google Earth using biking directions.
