What Is the America 250 Double Loop?
For 2026, RAGBRAI is introducing an optional endurance challenge tied to America’s 250th anniversary.
The special loop expands Day 5 into a:
- 250-kilometer route
- Just over 159 miles
It’s a symbolic tribute to:
• 250 years of America
• 250 kilometers across Iowa
The addition gives experienced riders an opportunity to push themselves while celebrating one of the biggest milestones in U.S. history.

The inspection riders described the loop as:
