The City of Ankeny is detouring the High Trestle Trail as a part of the West First Street Widening and Improvements project. The detour is in effect starting Monday, Aug. 1, 2022 and will last approximately six weeks, weather permitting. The HAWK signal crossing at W. First Street will not be available during this time.

The signed detour route begins on the High Trestle Trail on the south side of W. First Street. Northbound trail users will travel east on the south sidewalk of W. First Street to SW Cherry Street/NW Ash Drive, then head north crossing W. First Street and continuing on the west sidewalk of NW Ash Drive to NW Prairie Ridge Drive, then head west on the south sidewalk of NW Prairie Ridge Drive to the existing High Trestle Trail connection. The detour for southbound users will be the reverse of this route. A crosswalk signal is available at the SW Cherry Street/NW Ash Drive and W. First Street intersection. See map for details. Motorists should slow down and use extra caution in this area.
