The Friends of the Linden Public Library are utilizing their close proximity to the Raccoon River Valley Trail for a fundraiser the weekend of July 25.

The Friends will be selling homemade cookies, granola bars, pickles on a stick, pickle juice shots, and more across from the gazebo in front of the old gas station from 8 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Friends member Karen Fluharty says the group formed just this past November to help support the library, which is considered a community epicenter for youth and adults, “We are the non-profit Foundation for the Linden Library. It’s like a friends group, Friends of the Library. We do fundraisers and help them earn money to get updated books. We just purchased a new portable air conditioner for them when their air went out. We would like to put new carpet in and the end goal is to have a new building. But we also help out with children’s programs and we’ve gotten grants for them to get new computers, things like that.”

Fluharty hopes there will be plenty of bicyclists stopping through town this weekend, and the group looks to holding this fundraiser every weekend to support the library, which recently received state accreditation.
