The weather across eastern Iowa is finally getting warm and dry enough to spend time outside, but some trails in Linn County are still soaked from flooding a few weeks ago.

In Marion, a portion of the Boyson Trail next to Thomas Park remains closed. The park itself reopened Wednesday.

“We’re looking at a couple weeks to be able to get all the trails completely finished,” Parks and Recreation Deputy Director Seth Staashelm said.

That part of the trail runs along the Indian Creek and is made of agrilime, a crushed-rock surface. Staashelm said agrilime is more popular with runners than pavement but also washes out more quickly during flooding.
